Nanotechnology Charles Seeney, NanoBioMagnetics, Inc. nanobio@att.com
Nanotechnology is an emerging technology projected to have a significant economic and societal impact across a broad range of applications that will alter our daily lives. Its impact will be seen in a broad array of new products and new product technologies: From healthcare to information science to agriculture to the environment to renewable energy resources and beyond.Nanotechnology is an enabling technology that works at the molecular scale to make things that are ………….. Stronger – Faster – Lighter – Smaller – More Durable
Speaker Bio: Charles Seeney, M.S. Polymer Science, is Co-Founder and President of NanoBioMagnetics (NBMI), which is the third technology venture startup under his direction and leadership. He previously was Founder and President of NanoSource Technologies, Inc. (NSTI). Both companies are developing-stage ventures that seek to exploit unique nanofabrication methods to develop new product technologies for their respective markets. • NSTI, whose IP was recently acquired by the DuPont Chemical Corporation, is pursuing nanopowders based on titanium dioxide as broad-spectrum UVA/UVB attenuators. • NBMI, based on its nanofabrication platform, is pursuing magnetic nanopowders as organ assisting devices for a range of human applications. Seeney has worked in industry throughout his career since receiving his Masters of Science in Polymer Chemistry from the Institute of Polymer Science, The University of Akron, OH. He began his career as a Research Scientist with Fortune 200 Companies, eventually becoming a Director of R&D. In the mid-80’s, his career interests turned to Technology Deployment when he started an internal venture, IMCERA Bioproducts, Inc., for IMC Corporation, a Fortune 200 Company. With the entrepreneurial bug firmly entrenched, Seeney later joined a medical diagnostic venture as VP of Operations and Strategic Development, and helped carry its primary product through FDA approval, GMP manufacture and commercialization. The Company concluded a successful IPO. In 1997, Seeney left that firm to establish NSTI and later NBMI. Over his career, Seeney has been awarded 18 US Patents, with two applications currently pending. He has been published in technical journals and has served as an expert witness in matters relating to polymer resin chemistry. He provides consulting services through ViCorp Tech LLC, of which he is Managing Director. He is also active in the community, having served on Governor’s Committees in Indiana and Oklahoma, coaching elementary school chess teams, and is active in the management affairs of his Church.
